Win Their Trust
This chapter is all about the last third of ethos, disinterest. The point of disinterest is to "make your audience believe in your selflessness - by seeming either wholly objective or nobly self-sacrificing. Some examples are Alexander hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay anonymously supporting the new constitution while simultaneously claiming they never even attended the convention at all. What this does for them, is leave their opinion open to mold to that of their audience. They manage to provide their two cents without making it known, so that if tides sway, they can roll with the punches.
